Hein is a businessman and a partner in the Vancouver office of the Stikeman Elliott law firm. His background includes: membership in McAlpine, Poulus and Hordo, a Vancouver law firm (1973 to 1979); senior management positions with Kaiser Resources (1979 to 1980), a publicly traded producer of metallurgical and thermal coal and oil and gas; and with private Kaiser companies (1980 to 1984) whose activities included coal trading, oil and gas, real estate, and professional football. He then served as a senior officer of Southeastern Capital Corporation, a Denver-based leveraged buyout group (1984 to 1990) with interests in broadcasting, petroleum product distribution, and environmental laboratories. Hein was born in Djakarta, Indonesia and schooled there and in the Netherlands. He holds undergraduate and law degrees from the University of British Columbia and an LL.M. from the London School of Economics. 

Jason Bak

CEO and Founder

Jason founded and became the CEO of Finavera in Ireland in 2003 with the vision of building a diversified energy company focused initially on natural gas, wind energy and wave energy. In 2005 Finavera was split into Finavera Gas and Finavera Renewables. Jason became the CEO of Finavera Renewables taking it public on the Toronto Venture Exchange. Jason has actively led the development of renewable energy technologies and over 1,000MW of grassroots wind projects in Europe and Canada to mature development projects approaching construction. In 2008, he originated a partnership with General Electric for C$800 million of project finance for Finavera Renewables’ British Columbia wind portfolio. He has led the asset sale of a portion of Finavera’s wind development portfolio to Florida Power and Light (NextEra). Jason was invited by President Clinton to become a member of the Clinton Global Initiative in 2006 and is currently an active member in advancing the fight against climate change on a global scale. Jason also serves on the Bretton Woods Committee in Washington, DC where as a member he seeks to increase understanding of the World Bank, IMF, WTO and the regional development banks and their efforts to spur economic growth, alleviate poverty and improve financial stability. Jason obtained a degree in Applied Physics from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada in 1997.

ian harvey

Director

Ian is the founding shareholder and director of B9 Energy. He has neogtiated numerous power purchase agreements, wind farm construction contracts, and financings for six wind farms in Ireland and Northern Ireland with a capacity of more than 60 megawatts and the 63 megawatt Kettles Hill wind farm in Alberta, Canada.  B9 Energy was formed in 1992 to develop wind farms and has since diversified into operations and maintenance of wind farms, landfill gas, and renewable energy from organic waste. Ian holds a Bachelor of Science (Economics) from the University of Ulster and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (FCA).

Olga ilich

In 2009 Ms. Ilich was chosen as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award winner. Ms. Ilich received this recognition after a 30 year career at senior levels in both business and government. In 2006 she was appointed Minister of Labour and Citizens' Services for the Province of British Columbia after first serving as Minister of Tourism, Sport, and the Arts.   She was elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia in the 2005 provincial general election. In 2009 Ms. Ilich declined to run in the provincial election in order to return to her business career.  Prior to entering politics, Ms. Ilich had a successful career in the real estate development and construction sector.  She was Executive Vice-President of Progressive Construction Ltd., and later President of Suncor Developments Ltd., a company that built single-family subdivisions, multi-family projects, and commercial shopping centres. Ms. Ilich has a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Arts, and a Bachelor of Arts degree. 

David Lamont

Director

David has been in the financial services industry for over 25 years.   As a founding partner of Capital Trust, a UK based investment management and financial services boutique he has been involved in numerous financial projects.   He is also a director and significant shareholder of a number of commercial property companies. David has had a long career in arranging finance and equity funding for numerous enterprises, providing advice and mentoring to those companies with the ambition to go through large scale expansion.
